You’ve practiced until you dropped. You’ve spent quality time finding the best pair of salsa shoes out there. In your closet is the sexiest dance outfit you could buy.

You’re ready for a night on the town.

Question is, do you know what salsa clubs are hot and where to find them? Finding yourself at a dance club that has a bad vibe, unexcited crowd or small dance floor can really bring down your mood. Think about what elements are most important to you, whether it’s atmosphere, location, size, amenities or other features. Keep these thoughts in mind as you talk to other club goers, read reviews on the Internet and even ask your salsa instructors for club recommendations. Ask the questions that are most important to you. For a little help getting started, here is some information on hot salsa clubs in the Los Angeles area.

The Mayan
Located right near the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, Club Mayan offers a large, hardwood, multi-tiered dance floor. Not only is it a great dance location—it is home to the Mayan World Salsa Competition and is equipped for small private affairs, large corporate events and even film and music video productions. The club caters to special events. For more information, visit clubmayan.com.

Club Palm Terrace
A new club to the Los Angeles scene, Palm Terrace is the creation of dancer Alex Da Silva, champion of the 2002 Mayan World Salsa competition. Monday nights are salsa nights, with music mixed by DJ Frank as well as guest DJs. This is one of the salsa clubs that offers classes at the beginning of the night. From 8 to 9 p.m. on Monday nights, you can participate in either a beginner or intermediate level salsa class, and then take your fresh moves to the club’s dance floor. El Floridita
Okay, so this is technically a restaurant, but El Floridita boasts live music and a dance floor that can match any club you can go to. And with all the energy you’ll spend dancing, you’re going to need some nourishment—so why not get it all done at the same location. Less time spent traveling means more time dancing. This “supper club”, as it is sometimes referred to, is located right in Hollywood, and offers live entertainment on many evenings. To make reservations, or for more information visit www.elfloridta.com.

The Rumba Room
There is a lot more to the Universal City Walk then restaurants and a theme park. Hidden in the heart of the city is another of LA’s salsa clubs, The Rumba Room. This club has two levels and two dance floors, as well as VIP areas. They also have more than dance floors and DJs. Monday evenings are comedy nights, and the Rumba Room also hosts events such as DVD release parties. Friday and Saturday nights are its biggest evenings and dress code is strictly enforced, so visit the Web site for details! More information is available at www.rumbaroom.com. These are just a few of the incredibly long list of salsa clubs situated in the Los Angeles area. Again, much more information can be found by talking to your salsa instructors, searching the Internet and communicating with acquaintances. Not quite ready for the night life?
